Quick Overview of the Academics

Elementary and Middle School Program

Religion

Thorough learning of the foundation
of the Catholic Faith, including Creation,
God’s Commandments, Redemption,
the Sacraments, the History of the Church, the lives of the Saints.

French

Students are provided with an interactive environment to develop conversational skills in the French language through listening, speaking, reading and writing.
This learning course is complemented by exploring France's history and culture.

     Mathematics

Our curriculum provides for good foundations from basic counting and arithmetic to pre-algrebraic thinking. Students work at their own pace continually being challenged
and enabled to go as far
mathematically as they are able.

             History/Geography

In History and Geography, topics iclude Ancient Civilizations, Medieval World,
US History, World History, Geography, and Current Events. Middle school students prepare for the Constitution exam that is required for graduation.

Art

The art program is introduced in early grades and expanded on each year following, focusing on the process of art making and creativity. The goal is to help all students reach for their creative potential and do it all for the glory of God.

       Technology

Notre Dame-Academy provides an introduction to computer science and touch typing along with specialty courses such as professional photography and camera setup and video editing.
The program includes core fundamentals and techniques to practice.

Morality

Morality is based on Christian values. Students are given to study the principles, beliefs and standards that distinguish between right and wrong, good and bad behavior, including courtesy, respect of others and good manners to live together in harmony. A program on Internet danger awareness is also provided.

English

Gradual approach to parts of speech, types of sentences and punctuation along with phonics, reading, vocabulary, spelling.
The curriculum involves integrated thematic literature and writing units.

Spanish

All students get to gradually familiarize themselves with the Spanish Language. Along with the basics of grammar and usage, students learn about the language's history and culture to provide a meaningful cultural experience.

Science

Biology, Physical and Earth Science are studied at Notre Dame Academy.
Topics include an introduction to Geology, Plants and Animal Habitats and Introduction to Matter, Biomes, Sound and Light, Rain Forests, Solar System, and Forces of Nature.

Music

Students in all grades attend music class. The students learn grade-level music theory, history, and appreciation. Students are also given an opportunity to sing in the choir and to learn an instrument such as the piano or the flute.

           Hands-On Learning

Working with hands contributes to cognitive growth and greatly benefits intellectual learning. Students are introduced to various activities such as sewing, embroidery, mosaic art,
baking, cooking and much more.

            Physical Education

The physical education program at Notre Dame-Academy focuses on building community and health awareness in developing children. Students engage in gymnastics, team building, activities both indoors and outdoors, and team sports.

            Early Learning

These are introductory sessions for young students focused on sensory, musical, or physical development. These play-based activities include hands-on activities, storytelling, arts and crafts, music and sensory play to build foundational literacy, math and social skills.

High School Program

             Religion/Theology

Continuous deepening of our Catholic Faith as students learn more about the Mystery of the Holy Trinity and the other Mysteries of our Faith, Bible History,
Holy Scriptures the writings from the Fathers of the Church and Church History and learn about the lives of Saints

Our curriculum focuses on advancing from concrete arithmetic to abstract, logical reasoning, preparing students for college or career pathways. Course includes
Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2
and Pre-calculus.

Varying according to each student’s abilities, humanities courses can include the study of history, philosophy and religion, modern and ancient languages and literature, fine and performing arts, media and cultural studies and much more

Spanish

             History/Geography

In History and Geography, topics focus on developing critical thinking through surveys of World History, U.S. History and Civics. Students analyze political structures, religious and civil rights, preparing them for citizenship.

Science

Science courses focus on deep understanding, evidence-based modeling, and complex systems across biology, chemistry, physics and Earth science. Students investigate molecular biology, chemical reactions, energy conservation and much more.

Art

Introduction to fundamental economics concepts. Students learn to analyze supply and demand, opportunity costs, market structures, and economic principles, such as inflation, unemployment, fiscal policy, and international trade.

Students are given many electives to choose from including introduction Latin or German languages, introduction to hospitality and restaurant management, professional printing, Woodworking,
art painting and restoration, Business Entrepreneurship, Web design,
Video Editing and much more...
